Journal and remark book [manuscript]. 1886-1889.

Log book kept by Lieutenant Henry Simpson on board the "H.M.S. Coquette", "H.M.S. Nelson", and "H.M.S. Diamond", on journeys between England and Malta, Australia and the Pacific. The Log contains daily entries recording Simpson's life and work on board the ships and also brief descriptions of his activities ashore in Sydney, Adelaide, Auckland, Norfolk Island, the New Hebrides and other ports in the Pacific. Log also contains photogaphs relating to Simpson's travels and tables recording weather conditions.
